Ravi Ramu has the unique experience of working for more than three decades across a gamut of industries and varied geographies - banking, consulting, audit, internet and e-commerce, real estate, technology, business process outsourcing, and iron and steel in London, Amsterdam, Dubai, the US and India. Giving up a career in the corporate world, he is now an entrepreneur, soon to open and operate a luxury retreat in the mountains of the Western Ghats in India.
Ravi spent the first seven years of his career training and working in London and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, London. He then moved to the KPMG International Headquarters in Amsterdam as Manager Professional Practice and also worked in the KPMG Banking Group in Holland.
Ravi returned to India in 1994 as one of the founders of KPMG India to become the Senior Partner and Head of the Information, Communication and Entertainment (ICE) practice at KPMG India and was involved extensively with the US IPOs of several leading technology companies like Infosys and Wipro. Prior to returning to India he was in Financial Control & Planning with the Emirates Bank Group in Dubai which role included being the CFO of the listed Real Estate subsidiary, Union Properties.
Ravi’s previous assignments based out of Bangalore was as the Director Strategic Initiatives and Group CFO of MphasiS, now an over 40,000 people multinational software and BPO company, Director of the Puravankara Group, India’s largest home builders, and the President & CEO of the Hothur Group, a leading iron and steel organisation in Karnataka.
A passion for sport has seen Ravi acquire and form a champion cricket team, Provident Bangalore, in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL). Inside Indian T20, his first book, is a true cricket story about his team, with nuggets from the management and business worlds interwoven into the narrative. He is currently writing his second book on his corporate and business experiences across various industries and geographies.
Ravi enjoys public speaking and speaks at seminars and conferences on topics relating to finance, taxation, management, Indian economy, real estate, software, BPO, etc. He is regularly interviewed by business TV channels.
