James Crabtree is a Singapore-based author and expert on topics from the future of globalisation to a new era of geopolitical and technological disruption. He gives compelling keynote talks examining the next stage of the Asian century, taking in everything from trade wars and emerging technologies to pandemic recovery and the rise of China and India.
James’s best-selling book The Billionaire Raj: A Journey Through India’s Gilded Age, was short-listed for the Financial Times & McKinsey Business Book of the Year, and also named one of Amazon’s best books of the year. He now works in Singapore for the International Institute of Strategic Studies, a leading global research organisation, headquartered in London.
A former Mumbai Bureau Chief at the Financial Times, James Crabtre often writes essays and commentary for global publications, from the Economist and Wired to the New York Times. He is a regular columnist for Foreign Policy and Nikkei Asia. Educated at Harvard and the LSE, James was also previously a senior policy advisor in the UK Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, under prime ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
