Philip Marcovici advises governments, financial institutions and global families on tax and wealth management. He is the founder and CEO of LawInContext, the interactive knowledge venture of global law firm, Baker & McKenzie.
Marcovici was a partner of Baker & McKenzie, a firm he joined in 1982, and practiced in the area of international taxation. Marcovici's legal practice involved advising multi-nationals, financial institutions and families on the international and domestic aspects of Canadian, Hong Kong and U.S. taxation, as well as on commercial issues relevant to cross-border transactions. He was the former chair of Baker & McKenzie’s European tax practice and was also one of the founders of their Asia-Pacific tax practice.
A member of the adjunct faculty of the Singapore Management University, Marcovici is actively involved in teaching in the areas of taxation, wealth management and family business governance. He is the author of The Destructive Power of Family Wealth published by John Wiley in 2016.
